We are committed on improving the culture of rural communities into a sustainable framework of climate resiliency.

Ecological Restoration

In this time of environmental crisis, drastic changes our relationship with nature and environment, the ecology is needed to be restored for present and future generation. Conventional ways of agriculture, have contributed to the current climatic instability. Through incorporating indigenous knowledge methods with world known sustainable practices as well as introducing new modernized innovations, to improve agricultural practices of rural communities towards a better ecological resiliency.

Tree Planting and Forest Conservation

The expansion of rural settlements has led to rapid deforestation caused by timber, charcoal and firewood demand which drives a major part of this problem. CSS works with local communities to improve agro-forestry and establish native tree nurseries for the restoration and conservation of our forest. By instilling a sense of knowledge, skills, respect and pride in our local biomes, CSS help rural communities become the local conservationist.

Sustainable Agriculture

There is an abundance of indigenous and improved knowledge on sustainable agricultural practices. Regenerative Farming and restorative practices have been in forefront to the local crop specific varieties production. CSS work to bring this knowledge to the forefront of agricultural practice. By combining local, indigenous knowledge, improved agricultural technology and tried and tested methods in sustainability from around the world, CSS improve the environmental health and impact rural farming culture.

Local Food Systems

The strength of sustainable agriculture is the diversity of crop species and promotion of utilization of indigenous neglected under utilized species. We work with local farmers to identify along with sustainable production and utilization for nutritional security. This allows us to preserve and propagate indigenous crops while increasing the marketability of these species, creating self sufficient local food systems with specific value chains for nutritional and income generation.

Water Resource Management and conservation

Water scarcity and pollution is a serious issue in rural communities. CSS work to improve water delivery, sewage and hygiene systems. We work to improve water delivery systems, restore forestry that increases rainfall averages, promote the use of crop varieties that require less water use for sustainable yields. By minimizing water consumption and increasing forestry reverse desertification and provide rural communities with more water to use for domestic and agricultural purposes.

Biodiversity Conservation

The key to both flora and fauna conservation, macro and micro organisms above and below grounds. Through increasing the varieties of native plant species we promote the propagation of beneficial pollinators, fungi, protozoa, bacteria and worms that help regulate environmental stressors that have become more prominent in our current times. Biodiversity acts as a buffer to plague, crop failure and pest by providing food and shelter for beneficial species while putting natural buffers between environment and farm in the form of natural predators and positive symbiotic relationships.

WE ARE WORKING!

Climate Smart Solutions is a multifaceted organization. Our staff have diverse experience and skill sets that come together in the perfect synergy for sustainable development.

IDENTIFYING AND PROMOTING INDIGENOUS CROPS

CSS works with local people to identify local neglected underutilized crop species that contain high nutritional value. CSS then research and develop methods for the sustainable propagation and production of these crops. These crops are then promoted to the local communities in which they are grown through educating them on the nutritional value. This brings to light local varieties are often ignored in favor of more conventional foreign produces. CSS has stated with 500 smallholder farmers with more than 10 indigenous cultivars incorporated into the forest garden in Arumeru and Siha districts in Tanzania

DIVERSIFYING AGRICULTURE WITH AGROECOLOGY METHODS

Agroecology (AE) on sustainable crop production and enhancement of smallholder farmers’ livelihoods. Leverage decision support tools (DSTs) to generate research-based evidence for sustainable crop production systems and climate smart agriculture (CSA) technologies. It enhance adoption of a participatory research with farmer clusters to establish an Agro-ecological Knowledge Innovation System (AKIS), address fragile connections between farmers and agroecological services, and facilitate the development of agribusiness initiatives with customized business models tailored to local conditions while uphold and promote gender equality.

VARIOUS NURSERIES FOR TREE PLANTING

Our major reforestation, afforestation, agroforest efforts are based on tree nurseries our founding CEO, Karwani has assisted in starting up forest garden. Only native trees on the each specific ecology are propagated in our tree nurseries to ensure we do not disturb the native ecology
